Mojave Max's Weather Information

Weather trends and conditions greatly influence species behavior.  Many wild plants and animals are more active in moderate temperatures, less active in very hot temperatures, and go into a state of sleep in very cold temperatures.

The weather also influences how humans behave.  Simple acts such as eating, sleeping, and getting dressed in the morning are affected by the weather.

Weather is also a very important component of the Mojave Max Emergence Contest.  Temperature, daylight, and biology are the three critical factors that determine when Mojave Max will first exit his burrow each year.

The real life Mojave Max lives in Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas, NV.  Every fall the hot Las Vegas weather cools off, and Max goes into his burrow to begin brumation.

When will he emerge?
That is the question all of our contestants need to answer.  The person who guesses as closely as possible to the correct day, hour, and minute when Max emerges from his burrow wins! Anyone in the whole world can enter, but only one lucky winner from  Clark County, Nevada (or other sponsored areas) can win all kinds of great prizes!
